Though the Columbia Collective building is best known for its history housing Columbia Winery, it was originally built for Haviland Winery and inspired by a whimsical building on the Haviland label. The winery was founded by George DeJarnett, who commissioned architect Michael Medina to design a building across from Chateau St. Michelle matching the label.

Founder Dave DeJarnett found inspiration in this bottle and encouraged architect Michael Medina to draw from it when designing their new building, Columbia Winery.
Architect Michael Medina then designed the new building which was used on their new label in 1983.
